The sweet story behind this wall of Subbuteo kits

A beautifully painted stand of Subbuteo fans in a whole range of kits is not your normal stadium build.

The small section of cheering plastic fans decked out in different club shirts has actually raised money for a very real charity – and the owner wants more people to secure a seat on the terraces.

The stand is homed in Chris Burford’s incredible Subbuteo shed. You can read more about the spectacular Subbuteo man cave here and take a look inside what is one of the best Subbuteo hideaways we have ever seen.

Chris has teamed up with Subbuteo fan painter extraordinaire Steven Jeffery to launch a charity drive that allows you to get a fan in the stand with your team’s colour shirt.

For a donation of £5 Steven will paint a fan in colours of your choice and send to Chris – who will offer them a permanent home in the stand. All proceeds of the scheme will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Steven says he wanted to do the idea because he sadly lost his Father to cancer last year and we love the idea of the Subbuteo community doing something nice to raise money for charity.

Requests have been as eclectic as you can imagine. From an early Juventus kit complete with pink tie to a Plymouth Argyle fan, the wonderful collection of kit colours highlights the diversity of the Subbuteo community.

There are already nearly 30 fans in the VIP section of the stand and only two spots remaining, but there is now talk of extending the area to attract more fans and secure more donations.

You can request your player on the Subbuteo Revival Facebook group. As Subbuteo.Online we could only think of one team to request – Subbuteo FC and will be sending £5 to the worthy cause.
