Subbuteo fans can be a bit obsessive. The niche nature of the game and the vast and varied range to collect can often bring it out of us.
For example, I bought a pair of Subbuteo cufflinks for my own wedding this year, a subtle little nod to my favourite hobby. My wife is incredibly understanding of the collection taking up our cupboard space – but I doubt even she would allow me to go this far.
So hats off to Nikos Liakopoulos’ beautiful bride, who posed for these hilarious Subbuteo-themed wedding snaps on their big day.
The photograph shows the bride dragging Nikos, who is active in the Greek Subbuteo scene, away from a game. It was captured beautifully by Loris Kadinopoulos, who described it as one of the more memorable wedding day shoots he has been involved in.
A video of the shoot even shows the two players sneaking in a quick game, and VERY understanding bride Kyriaki Malousidou was even spotted cheering a goal scored by her new husband.
Using a Dream Team stadium on a sandy beach may not have delivered the best standard of Subbuteo, but it was certainly a match to remember given the guest of honour!
It’s a fantastic and unique way to celebrate the game of Subbuteo on the biggest day of their lives. Thanks to Nikos for allowing us to share the photos and we wish the two of you a long and happy marriage!
