The new Manchester United 2024/25 home kit will boast three major changes for the new season and one of those is set to land the club a £60m bonus.
Not content with securing a staggering £900m deal as one of Adidas’ Elite clubs, more than Liverpool’s new deal with the brand, the new 2024/25 United home kit will feature front of shirt sponsor Snapdragon for the first time in a further £60m per year boost to the club’s coffers.
The new deal is reported to be about £14m a year more than outgoing sponsor TeamViewer and highlights the enduring pull of the United brand with high level sponsors, giving United a boost to their summer transfer plans in an age of financial fair play.
The addition of the new sponsor also confirms the launch date will be early July as the sponsorship deal will not officially begin until 1st July, meaning United and contractually obliged to wear the current TeamViewer shirts until that date.
Snapdragon, owned by Qualcomm, is a developer of semiconductors for mobile phones including Samsung Galaxy models. However, the technology has also been used on NASA Mars landers among other uses. It will be the first of a three year deal with the Old Trafford club and leaked images of the new shirt show Snapdragon appearing as the main sponsor for the first time.
The shirt also features the new-look Adidas badge, which is significantly larger than before and does not feature the word Adidas, according to FootyHeadlines.
A final major change to the shirt is the absence of black as a third colour. Manchester United always hs a red shirt but next year will choose only white as a highlight colour. The shirt itself will use two differnet shades of red to provide some design flair.
Last year Manchester United launched the new kit early in July, followed by the away shirt on 24 July and the third shirt in August. Manchester United are heading to America for pre season friendlies against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool and will be expected to be wearing the new shirt by then.
There are two earlier friendlies this summer beginning with Rosenburg on 15 July and followed by a sell-out clash against Rangers at Murrayfield on 20 July. The new shirt will be revealed before these games.
The club’s away kit is rumoured to be a two-tone blue design, while a third kit could feature the Adidas Trefoil badge for the first time in three decades on a United shirt. The rumoured third kit will be off-white with an eye-catching red, white and black horizontal tricolour design across the chest in what will likely be one of the most popular United alternative shirt designs for years.
