This was the moment Paulo Di Canio completely lost his head.
After a foul on Arsenal’s Patrick Viera, who promptly pushed the offending player over, there was a clash between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday players in the 1998 Premier League fixture.
What happened next is one of the most controversial moments in Premier League history. Paulo Di Canio, clearly incensed, clashed with Martin Keown and after he kicked out he was shown a red card by referee Paul Alcock.
Di Canio then pushed the referee, who flopped to the floor in slow motion, and stormed off the pitch to a barrage of abuse from Winterburn.
Di Canio was banned from football for 11 games and was fined £10,000. Sheffield Wednesday actually won the game 1-0 thanks to a late winner, but soon went into a decline that resulted in relegation from the Premier League a year later.
