Subbuteo launches a new box set and it actually looks good

A mystery new Subbuteo set has appeared on the Spanish Amazon website and it looks like an exciting new box set for the brand.

Eleven Force, the Spanish importer for the Subbuteo game, has added an image of a ‘Subbuteo Playset Edición Maradona’ in honour of Argentinian legend Diego Maradona.

Unlike the half-hearted English 75th Anniversary sets the box art is unique and stunning, with a stylised Maradona figure complete with Subbuteo base and Adidas-style ball alongside a graphic depicting his signature. Intriguingly, the edition also features images of seven different Subbuteo players with distinctive Maradona hairstyles in the kit colours of his club and international teams including Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, Newell’s Old Boys, Argentinos Juniors and the Argentina national team.

The images suggest players will get at least two of those teams in the set complete with what looks like golden bases. It also opens up the option for a single player in each team that looks like Maradona and has a single gold base.

Very little information is available on the set and it is not actually available to order yet but it does come with an ID number (15556).

The set is not listed on the Eleven Force website so it remains to be seen when it will actually be available for sale.

Eleven Force is a prolific seller of new Subbuteo sets with dedicated boxes for major clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and more. It also sells team sets and has previous sold cut-price boxes of the La Leggenda range of lightweight-style teams.
