The new Subbuteo TV advert has finally arrived.
UK distributor University Games has uploaded the short advert to its Youtube channel.
The advert, first shown at the Toy Fair earlier this year, shows a Grandfather getting a Subbuteo game out of the attic to play with his grandchildren.
In the true spirit of classic Subbuteo adverts, it depicts children playing the game and action in the form of players being flicked.
The advert’s message clearly focuses on the brand’s past and future, a nod to the fact Subbuteo has been played by generations of children and is still available today. University Games will be hoping a new generation will buy the new sets, the first of which is now on sale.
They told us: “We want grandparents who played the game to be able to take their grandchildren into a shop and introduce them to Subbuteo.”
The advert was, according to University Games, part of the biggest marketing campaign for the brand in 40 years.
The advert, originally shown without sound at the Toy Fair, was originally intended to air around the Euro 2020 tournament but the current coronavirus pandemic means the brand has had to release it without a major tournament.
It remains to be seen if the advert will appear on TV as well.
