Nike launches Vinicius Jnr EAFC 2024 kit and it is disgusting

The season of kit launches is here but kit makers will have to go some way to outdo the latest Nike and Vinicius Jr after the release of one of the ugliest kits ever to grace the pitch.

Fans of EAFC will recognise the yellow abomination from the game’s Ultimate Team mode and the shirt is now available to buy in the real world for the first time. Priced at £80, the Nike EAFC 2024 Stadium Dream Shirt is officially ‘kumquat’ colour and the design is based on one of Nike’s more garish boots, the Air Max Plus TN.

The shirt is on sale now exclusively at Pro:Direct Soccer but not everybody is a fan of the design.

One took to social media to say: “Good lord, it’s uglier in real life than on FC24.”

While another simply added: “Yikes.”

Modelled by Real Madrid and Brazil superstar Vinicius Jr, the shirt is one of three shirts set to be released that are based on famous Nike boot designs. The others are a Nike EA Sports FC ‘Air Max DN’ kit worn by Erling Haaland and Nike EA Sports FC ‘Air Max 95’ kit modelled by Sam Kerr.

It makes sense that Vinicius Jr is the star of the launch. The kit is based on the boots he will wear for the Champions League Final at Wembley when Real Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund this month.

It marks a big turnaround for the player’s relationship with Nike after a falling out last year. Vinicius Jr was reportedly unhappy with the terms of his contract with Nike and wore blackout boots instead of his usual colourful boots during a Real Madrid game in February last year. The protest did not last long however and he signed another contract with Nike late last year to continue to represent the brand.
