SubbuteoFest 2021 dates revealed for summer event in the UK

A unique new Subbuteo event named SubbuteoFest has announced a date and venue for 2020.

Plans for the festival of everything Subbuteo were revealed by Subbuteo.Online last year. Backed by the team behind the excellent Wobbly Hobby Shop, it was described as a ‘complete indulgence of the game’ and one of the biggest Subbuteo events in the world by organisers.

At the time they said: “We are planning a pro tournament, an old traditional tournament, seller stands, the weird and wacky, collector displays (and) anything and everything Subbuteo related.”

A post by Jon Rosten, who is helping to plan the tournament, says SubbuteoFest will take place on Sunday 4th July between 8am and 6pm.

He says: “We are now offering up for reservation selling tables at £10 per table ( pay on the day ). The Venue has lots of parking. The address is the New Croft, Chalkstone Way, Haverhill, Suffolk CB9 0BW.

“We have to assume at this stage that it will be Covid safe for that date.”

The Sussex event will take place at the football ground in Haverhill and promises to be a brand new take on the traditional Subbuteo Fair.

Wobbly Hobby Shop, which is set to launch an online Subbuteo store this week, has been the main driving force behind table football in the UK and in particular the South East. Alan Lee, the man behind the shop, has helped Subbuteo players form a number of new clubs in the area that could lead to a South East Subbuteo league once lockdown is over.

In the past 12 months the shop has donated 12 Subbuteo Astro pitches, 8 Tables and 6 sets of Goals to English Subbuteo Clubs. It has also built 30 Tables with Extreme Works pitches and goals for English Tournaments in 2021.

The news will be popular with Subbuteo fans who are looking forward to events starting again in 2021. The biggest and most popular Subbuteo event in the UK is the Renishaw Collector’s Fair near Sheffield, which traditionally takes place twice a year. A new date for the fair has not yet been announced for 2021.

Other table football events in 2021 have already been impacted by the global pandemic. The FISTF table football World Cup in Rome, already pushed back from a date in October 2020, will now take place in 2022. Another new Subbuteo Fair set up by Alan of SubbuteoPassion.com, was also postponed indefinitely after it was planned for early last year.
