Crack open the pack of orange Adidas Tango balls – Subbuteo has finally got a proper snow-covered winter pitch.
Hasbro, the owner of the table-top football games, has revealed a couple of new items on sale in mainland Europe and one of them will please fans of nostalgia.
Before under-soil heating in top-level grounds snow covered pitches and orange footballs were a staple of the winter months in the UK. It led to many Subbuteo fans adding some DIY snow elements to their pitch to make it look like there was a light dusting of snow.
Now Subbuteo has launched a 2020 winter pitch and it has been designed to look like it has snowed. It comes complete with line markings and should be a lot easier to play than a pitch covered in sugar to recreate the white stuff.
The Subbuteo winter pitch is on sale now but, like many of the official Hasbro Subbuteo items, it is not on sale here in the UK yet.
The good news is that you can still get your hands on it. Spanish company We Are Games ships to the UK and is currently selling the pitch for a reduced price of 21.95€.
We have ordered from We Are Games before and although you usually have to wait a few weeks we’ve never had a problem ordering from the site.
The set comes with three winter balls too – but we’d recommend getting your hands on a set of orange Subbuteo Tango balls for the true winter game effect.
